Houston Recap

Mike calls me a "high roller" because now when we stay at any Marriott hotel, we receive an extra perk because of my Platinum status. During our past trip to Houston, we were offered two free amenities with our stay. We never order room service, but a beer and a pint of ice cream was delivered to our room! And we also got to use the Concierge lounge (which had a free continental breakfast, and snacks at night which included chicken breast and smoked salmon!).
One of our friends back in Dallas recommended a Shave Ice/Ice Cream shop called Juice Box.  There were tons of smoothie selections on the menu, but we settled for a mango and strawberry milk shave ice.  It was a perfect treat for the warm Houston weather. Even though this bing-su type shave ice was yummy, my heart still belongs to simple Hawaii shave ice.

This picture does not do the Houston Chinatown justice, but this is a huge Asian shopping area. Houston has a larger Asian population than Dallas (I think that's a true statement), so the Chinatown seems huge in comparison.

Here's a picture of the Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, TX. We were not allowed to bring in our cameras during the tour, but we had a nice time checking out the plant and sampling all kinds of Blue Bell ice cream.  We've heard rumors that the HEB grocery in Brenham sells all the flavors that Blue Bell makes (even all the regional flavors that are not offered in Texas) but we didn't search for the HEB because we wanted to make it back to Dallas at a reasonable time.
