Today was one of those days that I felt like, "Man, I want to go home and drink a beer!" If I actually said that aloud my friends would look at me like I was crazy because I don't drink beer. But, I can totally understand why old men go home, lounge out on the sofa and pop open a bottle. Back in my naive days, I would immediately think, "He's an alcoholic." But really the guy just wants to relax and enjoy a cold one and chill out after a long day of work.
Mike left some Woodchuck (hard cider which tastes like apple juice, but it's alcoholic) in my fridge, so maybe I'll drink one of those when I go home.
Seriously, no I can't drink. 1)I got the Asian gene that makes me turn red after 3 Tablespoons of alcohol. Really I don't have enough alcohol dehydrogenase to break down the alcohol in my body fast enough. 2)I'm in charge of a Meijer shopping trip for residents today so I could be fired if I run the event intoxicated. 3)I have a practice presentation tomorrow that's kind of important
So I'm going to be a good little girl and just go home and work on my research and presentation. Maybe I'll eat some of those CHOCOLATE CHIP BACON COOKIES I made last night. Yes, you heard me, I jumped on the bacon bandwagon and will post about this in a few days!
In other news, I have decided to set my Preliminary Exam date for Thursday, July 24 so that I can fly home in August without research worries. Man, there are a lot of hoops you have to jump through to obtain your doctorate. At the moment I feel like I just realized that you have to learn how to run before you can jump through those hoops.
Oh and my shout out to C. Congratulations! You Rock!

mmm chocolate chip bacon cookies. kind of like the chocolate covered bacon I did (but will post about in a couple of days).
good luck with your exams.
I loved the cookies. Sooo good! I didn't know that it was a gene that made it so some people couldn't break down alcohol--you taught me something today. :) Good luck at IFT, BTW.
